What is Invisalign®?
Invisalign® is a system that uses a personalized series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you are wearing. So, you can smile with ease during and after treatment. Invisalign® aligners are made using 3D computer imaging technology and are used by more than 70% of orthodontics in the United States and Canada.
Why Would I Want It?
Not only are the aligners invisible, they are also removable, so you don’t have to worry about what you eat or drink during your treatment. No metal wires also means less sitting in your dentist’s chair getting adjusted. Invisalign also offers a way to view your own virtual treatment plan so you can see what your teeth will look like when you’re done with the treatment.
How Does It Work?
You will wear a set of aligners for approximately two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move slowly but surely week-by-week until they have straightened to their final positions. About once every six weeks, you will come in for a visit to ensure that you are meeting the planned progress. Your total treatment time will be around 9 to 15 months — the number of aligners worn during treatment is around 18 and 30, but both numbers vary case-to-case.
